Foam balls, low nets, and a lot of catching, rolling and running. At this age the coordination comes before the tennis.
- Foam balls and low nets, so contact happens and the racquet is light enough to swing.
- Catching, rolling and running — balance, and tracking a ball through the air.
- Short turns in a small group.
By December: Most of them can track a moving ball, get a racquet on it, and send it back over a low net on their own. One day a week is plenty at this age.

What happens after you press Register
You enroll and pay for our group programs through the City of Laguna Beach, not here. About five minutes, and you do it once.
You will make a City account
Rec1 is the City of Laguna Beach's registration system, not ours. On your first visit it asks you to create a sign-on — a name, an email, a password. A couple of minutes, once, and it covers every City program from then on.
Payment is due when you register
Find Laguna Beach Tennis Academy in the catalog, choose your class and how many days a week, and check out. The City takes the money, not LBTA — there is no invoice afterwards and no deposit option.
The City tells us the moment you are in. We confirm your days, your court and your coach before the first session.
Registration is first come, first served through the City.
