From three years old up. Little Tennis Stars is thirty minutes for ages 3–4. Foundation Hour is an hour for ages 5–11. Academy Block is two hours for ages 9–18. Those are the only three junior classes — one block per age band, with several groups running inside each one. Adults have New to Tennis (never played), Beginner (under NTRP 3.0), Intermediate (NTRP 3.0–4.0), Advanced (NTRP 4.0+), and three at NTRP 3.0 and above — Sunrise Doubles Lab, Sunrise Tennis & Fitness and Evening Drill & Play. Cardio Tennis is open to all levels. Live Ball is NTRP 3.0 and above on Thursday and at 9:00 on Sunday, and 4.0+ at 10:30 on Sunday.

Every child is placed by a coach who has watched them play, and put with players working on the same things. The ages listed with each class tell you roughly who is on court at that time; they do not decide who your child works with once they are there. A seven-year-old who has played for two years and a ten-year-old just starting are on court at the same hour, in different groups, and both are in the right place.

Small groups. That does not change with how busy we are — when a group reaches its size we open another one, on another court, up to the courts available. Group size varies by class: the top Academy group is the smallest of all. When the courts are full, enrollment moves to a waiting list rather than a bigger group.

Registration and payment for every LBTA program run through the City of Laguna Beach Recreation, not through this website. You can leave your details here and we will email you the direct link and walk you through finishing at the City. Places are first come, first served. If you would rather do it over the phone, call us at (949) 534-0457 — no problem either way.

Two sites. Alta Laguna Park, 3300 Alta Laguna Blvd, carries the junior classes, every camp, Live Ball, and the USTA team's Saturday home matches. On Saturday morning Foundation Hour and the Academy Block run there side by side from 9:00. Laguna Beach High School, 625 Park Ave, carries the other adult classes — weekdays and Saturday morning — along with Friday's Academy Block. One thing does change mid-season: the Academy Block is at Alta Monday to Thursday through 2 October, then at the high school under the lights from 5 October. The weekly schedule tells you which site each session is at.

Yes. You choose how many days a week when you enroll — Foundation Hour and Academy Block go up to five — and we confirm your days from the ones available. You are not committed to every listed time, only the sessions you choose. Drop-in is open to anyone without a place or a pass, and four-visit passes let you come as you go.

Every player gets two make-up sessions a season, any reason at all — travel, illness, a school play. Reply to your coach and we place your child in another group that week. If LBTA cancels a session, the credit comes back automatically; you do not have to ask for it.

Registration runs through the City, so the City's terms govern the money: refunds are not issued unless an activity is cancelled by the City or the instructor, transfers may be permitted, and a processing fee may apply. What LBTA can do on its own side is move you to another day or block, put a credit on your family record, or move your child to a different group. We would rather tell you that plainly than promise a refund we do not control.

We call it as early as we can and text you as soon as the decision is made, with the make-up in the same message. On court, any coach can stop a session for lightning, heat or air quality without asking anyone — that is a safety call, not a scheduling one. If LBTA cancels a session, the credit comes back automatically; you do not have to ask for it, and every player also has two make-up sessions a season for any reason at all.

Yes — one player, two, or three, sixty or ninety minutes, by arrangement. Sixty minutes is $120 and ninety is $165 with an academy coach; two or three players are priced together. Packs of ten and twenty are priced lower per lesson. Lessons with a minor happen in open view, and a parent is welcome to stay every time.

Bring your own racquet, a named water bottle, a hat, and sunscreen already on. If you are just starting and do not have a racquet yet, we will lend you one for your first session — and the same goes for anyone visiting from out of town and travelling light. Just tell us before you come. Racquet Rescue can tell you what to look for when you are ready to buy, and handles stringing and regripping.

Three. Second child 10%, third child and beyond 15%, and early registration 5% — by 22 August for Fall, by 3 January for Winter. They combine to a maximum of 15%. If the investment is what is standing between your child and the court, please ask — need-based support exists; the conversation is confidential and it is one we are glad to have.

Movement first. Footwork and body mechanics come before stroke technique, because that foundation is what makes a player consistent, and what most reduces the wear that ends up as an injury. Beyond that: one skill per session taught three ways, every child plays points every week, and a coach tells you one specific thing your child did, by name, at the end of every session.

One free start per player, and you choose which. Either a thirty-minute placement session — a coach watches you or your child hit and tells you which class fits and why, before you pay for anything, and it is open to anyone looking at any class whether or not you live here. Or, if you live in Laguna Beach, one full group class free, with the coach placing you on the day. One or the other, one per player. Book by reply, or call (949) 534-0457.
